Flowering Period & Overlap Window
Peaches and nectarines are the same species and can share pollen when bloom overlaps. Most cultivars set fruit with their own pollen, so a partner is not normally required. Pollen-sterile exceptions such as J.H. Hale and Indian Free need a fertile peach or nectarine flowering at the same time.
Glohaven flowers within the peach Group 2–4 overlap window. Only pollen-sterile cultivars require a separate fertile peach or nectarine donor.

Incompatible Varieties & Exclusions (2)
These cultivars cannot serve as pollinizers for Glohaven because their pollen is sterile, flowering does not overlap, or a documented close relationship excludes the pairing.
Indian Free produces no viable pollen, so it cannot serve as a pollinizer.
J.H. Hale produces no viable pollen, so it cannot serve as a pollinizer.
Grower Commentary: Glohaven for Processing
Glohaven is a self-fertile yellow freestone peach in Group 3, with functional pollen that can serve a sterile peach when the blossoms overlap. Its own block can crop without an interplanted donor. The source identifies it as a Michigan release, and the catalog lists canning and freezing uses. Those outlets reward an orderly picking sequence as much as a good set of flowers.
The current pomology entry does not attach a cultivar-specific chill value, so a planting decision should use local winter and trial records rather than a borrowed number. The catalog notes resistance to splitting, but wet weather still calls for fruit inspection and timely picking. Thin heavy set soon after fruitlets establish; otherwise small peaches and exhausted bearing shoots can reduce the value of a processing crop.
Annual pruning should retain one-year fruiting wood and enough light for colour and maturity across the canopy. A compatible peach seedling or modern stock must be matched to drainage, soil biology and equipment access. Myrobalan, Marianna, St Julien and Wavit are plum stocks unsuitable for peach scions. If the block is intended for processing volume, decide row width and crew access before fixing a stock purely for reduced vigour.
Key Orchard Considerations for Glohaven
Glohaven sets alone and can donate pollen to a sterile peach with matching blossom dates.
No stored cultivar chill figure is available; thin for usable fruit size and arrange canning or freezing capacity.
Use peach-compatible roots selected for soil and harvest access, not St Julien or Myrobalan.
